For artists

It’s a big part of our ethos to work with and support development for local artists and creatives. On this page we’ll share relevant opportunities and resources throughout the year.

Useful Resources

We’ve pooled some useful resources and opportunities for local artists below:

  • Our Director Linda hosts a FREE weekly newsletter called Opportunity Tuesday, which shares 10 paid commissions, residencies, open calls and other opportunities for artists each week
  • The Uncultured provide free downloadable templates for Arts Council England applications and reports, including Developing Your Creative Practice and Project Grants
  • Would it be useful to see someone else’s successful funding application before you write yours? Head to the Funding Library, available for free and compiled by The White Pube
  • Making Room is a network hosted by Sheffield Theatres, which shares regular performance or writing related opportunities, with particular focus on Sheffield and South Yorkshire
  • The Making Ways newsletter collates opportunities and news for visual artists, with particular focus on Sheffield and South Yorkshire
  • Venues North pools information from theatres and arts centres who programme new work in the North of England. Download their Routes In guide for up to date information.

Work with us

We work regularly with freelance artists to deliver participatory workshops and lead creative projects. Usually we will either approach suitable artists for the work, or we’ll put out an open call. If you would like to be added to our artists database, please complete the short form below. Please note we cannot guarantee you work if you add yourself to our database, but we will consider you when we’re looking for relevant artists for upcoming projects.

As and when we have opportunities and open calls for artists, or artist resource sessions, they will appear below. You can also check our Jobs and Opportunities page for a full list, or our Volunteering page if you’re interested in giving your time for free.

We are a small organisation without any core funding, so we can’t offer regular opportunities at the moment, but we try to prioritise them as often as we can!

We recommend also checking out our shop front, as we welcome artists to use the space for whatever you’d like: co-working, R&D, community engagement, exhibitions, small screenings or events, or something else!
